Need a New Anemone- Source?

I have four perculas in my well established 90 gallon tank (a mated pair and 2 of their offspring). I had a beautiful hot pink anemone in there and have just moved it to my 140 gallon reef. I've had the pink anemone for over two years but its just not big enough for four clowns. They are loving it too death So now the anemone is happy in its new tank that has no clowns.

I need to find a good sized anemone for my four obsessive percs. They will nest ANYTHING including xenia, frogspawn, gonipora, etc but they just love those items too much and it hurts the corals.

I'm thinking a green or red bubble tip anemone would be good. I'd prefer to get a prettty decent sized one. If it was captive raised that would be even better.

Do you know of any reliable anemone sources? My LFS only carries little anemones (like 2 inches).

Thanks for your help.

Oh and here's a picture of one of my very ordinary clowns and my pretty anemone before I moved it.

I can't get a carpet anemone as I have blennies and gobys.

Im in the bay area also. Theres a great store near downtown san jose that always seems to have very good size anemones that would be perfect for what you need and another store anout .5 miles away from there that has very good size anemones now and then. The main one is called the aquarium showroom. its website is www.theaquariumshowroom.com and the other store is called T&T aquarium. both tend to have a great selection of anemones

Good luck,

Good grief, I have been on this site for how long and didn't even know there was a Bay Area forum :eek2: Thanks for the link!

If I'd only known I could have brought you one - my son graduated from Berkely two weeks ago and I was up there then and last week to move him out.

The Bay Area reefers will no doubt be a good source for you though. Amazing what you can discover on ReefCentral, even after years of being here (I still find stuff I didn't know, and you'd figure I would :D ).

Like calireefer said the aquarium showroom has some pretty good size nems. Some about 4-6 inches. I was just there on wedsday.

I'm happy to report I found a nice large rose anemone Friday. I acclimated it for over 8 hours and now its in the tank. It looks good and yesterday gobbled down a krill. :) The clowns are swimming as close to it as they can without touching it yet. When they nest it, and I know they will, I will post a picture for everyone to see. I appreciate all of the help!

And Anemone, CONGRATULATIONS on your son's college graduation and especially from such a top caliber school! I just got my daughter thru her freshman year (3.9 GPA) and am thrilled with that. I wonder how your son will like SoCal now that he's lived in NorCal so long.

He likes the weather up there better than down here. But we don't have any immediate worries - he's got a fellowship for graduate studies at Stanford, and in engineering, he tells me it will likely be at least 6 years more of school.

And 3.9 is something to be thrilled about - congrats to your daughter (and her parents, who must have raised her right!).
