My reef octopus crapped out on me and i do not want to pay $90 for a replacement impeller so I'm looking for a new skimmer.

Thinking of going with a Skimz brand

What's recommended?

130 gallon total volume tank and sump i would guess with a light bioload.

I have a Skimz sm201 on my 350 ish Gallon system (TANK AND POND)System. Its working great .
Its now about 3 months old i think..

You can check there size recommendation ON Bulkreefsuppy.. Also i would buy from there as they handle the warranty

+1 on Vertex 150. Takes a bit of patience to get it tuned but then it works like a champ and is very well made to last.

Yeah i was thinking of going with the Skimz SN143 as it says For Aquarium: up to 900L (237 Gal),but then it says this

Heavy bioload: up to 50 gal

Medium bioload: up to 100 gal

Light bioload: up to 150 gal

So which is it?

I was in the same boat last month. My vertex 180 aquaristik pump died and no replacement was available. I was looking at another vertex because their build quality is excellent, but also was looking at ATI because it draws huge amounts of air, and the Bubble Magnus.

I ended up going outside the norm and picked up a Nyos Quantum on sale at marinedepot. All the skimmers I looked at were 499, but 15% off the Nyos helped. It's been breaking in for a week now. I was surprised at how well it is made, and it is dead silent. It was pulling skin day 1. I am still trying to dial it in, but that's with any skimmer. So far I am really impressed. I am very happy with it.
