Now I can add a failed pH probe to all the other problems I had yesterday. I confirmed the failure with my Salifert kit. So does anyone have a standard pH probe for an ACJr their looking to sell??
As per Ph probes, if it is a standard connection probe, they can be bought for as little as $20 and run up over $100; the better ones use 2 wires, because they are suppose to leak less mercury over the long run. I use the cheapo BRS probe in my pinpoint, even though I had one go bad in a short amount of time (they replaced it no questions asked)
Agreed, try calibrating first. If it won't calibrate, make sure the glass isn't broken. If it's not physically damaged, won't calibrate, or is just really really sluggish, clean it in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid or 10:1 dilution of household bleach.
The problem is the wires. Where the wires enter the blue housing (top of the probe) its all corroded and the wires are exposed. I found if I move the wires around the pH jumps all over the place.
When I said I confirmed it wasn't working with the Salifert kit, what I meant was I tested the water and the kit read around 8.0. My probe was reading 9.5
