Need a sump

After being out all day today, I came home to the sound of my pump running dry.....I thought that was odd because I just did a top off within the last 24 hours.

As soon as turned the corner I saw water all over the floor......A bit shocked and confused I turned of the power to the pump as I noticed the sump was nearly empty.........and the side panel was shattered?

I was very confused and frantic as wifey was about to come through the door to see water all over the dining room hardwood.

As I was looking in the stand I noticed that my heater was shattered. I pulled it out......(in pieces) and found that it caught fire!!!!!!! it must have stuck on and overheated.

So long story short I am looking for a new sump. I just completely broke down my entire system so I could dryout the hardwood floors under the tank.

So far I have not lost any livestock, (knock on wood).

I am looking for something to fit under a 36 inch tank which means I the biggest I could likely go is about 30 inches, I am thinking a 20 gallon longish style / size.

Let me know if you have anything that would work. I would like to get things going back ASAP. I can pay cash or I have a few external pumps and a few other goodies laying around that I could trade if that suits you better.

Both Elmers and AquaWorld and maybe Dave's Aquastock have used tanks that size. Though a new one is not likely that expensive either.

You really need to be running a dedicated temperature controller and place the heater so that its "head" is always out of the water but preferably in an area that can not run dry. That means in the sump input area. It likely exploded because water leaked past the seal, boiled and cuased a small explosion.

I hear ya about temp controller.......I have a RK unit but had not set it up yet.....heater was in the input section so I do not think it was exposed to air unless the tank cracked prior to the heater burning up.
