I would not do another Acanthurus species. I firmly believe that you'd be asking for serious aggression troubles. I might consider a sailfin but it may be borderline on tank size.

You're asking for trouble if you don't add the powder blue last. Figure out the 3rd one you want and get it qt'd up and into the 180 with the yellow before you add the powder blue...otherwise the pbt might not let you add another tang.

I agree on the powders. I like the brown vs. the blue but I have not been able to successfully keep one in my tank. Too susceptible to ich IME.
didn't know powders are hard to keep. i've had mine for over a year now never any problems and eats like a big pig. the yellow did get ick when i 1st bought him. i hate to say this but they have been in a 75 since i bought them.
i was wanting another tang because the blue was beating up on the yellow but for the last couple of months they have been ok. so do you think i should stay with just two tangs and forget about another. because i have to move the blue and the yellow at the same time. i just moved and have to have the tank out of the house by Thursday i was just going to add the new one at the same time if i got one.

I guess you 'could' but I'd QT a new tang before adding. Why take the chance of getting the yellow and or pbt sick? You're moving them from one tank to another and from one house to another...that might be enough stress as it is if you ask me. Adding another tang might be a disaster that you don't want. (Not because a 180 can't hold 3 tangs, but because of the timing and not qt'ing the newbie) And I'm glad you're getting the 2 out of a 75. Your pbt will love you for it.

Even in a 180, 2 yellows wouldn't work. Well at least 98 times out of 100. (there's always going to be that ONE person that tells you it would work)

I'll back that statement. I have 2 purples and 2 sailfin in my clan. I thought, I've seen people keep 3 or more yellows in big tanks. Well, I added a 5" yellow last month and my 6" yellow beat him into a pulp.
