I recently moved from Ohio to Seattle and am re-establishing my tank (a friend who owns a marine shop is housing my stuff till the tank is ready).

I have recently setup a 155gal (60x24x24) tank but need water movement!! I will have a mix of corals shipped from Ohio; for example: frog-span, hammer, Fijian finger leathers, and stoney corals (SPS).

In the past I used a Oscilator from Ocean Currents....it worked great for a few months and then quit even though I did regular maint. It's now in a landfill somewhere in Ohio!!

So what Tunze products would fit my needs? What are my alternatives/pros/cons/best for the money alternatives? Where can I buy in the Seattle area or on-line?

It sounds like your best option would be 2 6000 Streams- one on each end. If you have a strong return flow you could use a Seaswirl and 2 7400/2. Either set up would be best used with the Multicontroller. We have no dealers in Seattle at this time. You can use Marine Depot, Champion or Premium. The Streams have a waiting list everywhere. The 7400/2 are in stock, I will recieve a limited number of multicontroller next week.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I believe I may go with 2 x 6000s (1850 gal/hr???) ...but I still don't completely understand what it is I'm buy vs. my needs from Tunze. For example what does your Web site mean by "speed control" for the 6000? What is the 'little blue box' shown next to the 6000 on the Web site do - is this the speed controller? What other features does it perform?

Also, what does a Multicontroller actually do? Is a multicontroller used for variable speed control and/or variable on/off times?

Unfurtunately the Tunze Web site is not too informative about the actuall details of the products...is there another source of info?

Thanks a lot for your time!!

The 6000 and 7400/2 are what we term Electronic pumps. They are submersible powerheads featuring a computer inline that controls the power to the pump enabling the speed to be varied. As delivered you will be able to go from 600gph to 1850gph. At 1850 flow carries about 4ft in a 2' by 2' jet. The multicontroller is an accessory to the computer, it interfaces through a 5 pin DIN port and enables two speed settings and interval between which the pump will pulse back and forth through the two speeds. Further the function of up to 4 pumps (8 with accesory branch adapters) can be soordinated to perform tide simulation, sequence operation or just all pulse.

Thanks for the clarification...

From what I've read, I assume I'll need mounting brackets for an arcylic tank with 4" bracing at the top?

FYI - part of my product confusion was from the Marine Depot site. They list the "Turbelle Stream 6000" but the item desc. list it as the 6080....why is that?

Again, thanks a lot for your time!

The 6080 is listed above the 6000, they have it correct. Scroll down a little further and after the 6000 description you will see it's listing.

Models 6060 and 6080 are synchronous and not controllable, models 6000 and 6100 are electronic and controllable.
