Need advice from WAVEBOX owners.....

I'm going to be setting up a 200g tank what is 54"l x 36"w x 24"h. I plan on an external overflow on one of the 36" sides. I'm also planning on having an external box for the wavebox built in as well. Probably just make a partition from the overflow.

Anyway my question is will use of the wavebox affect the overflow. I'm guessing that the overflow will only be working 1/2 the time as the waves come and go. Do I need to double the size of drain or linear portion of the overflow? Will it cause any noise issues this way?

The overflow will result in a shorter wave and noise. The ideal is to center the overflow on the backwall and you will avoid these issues, the center is the fulcrum point of the wave so the level is constant. The wavebox will still need to be positioned on a side wall.

I've got two waveboxes. One on a 300 gallon with overflows near the corners. The "noise" reminds me of being at the beach on a very calm day with small waves just barely rolling in.

The second is a nano on a 150. I've got two overflow boxes in the middle third of the tank. I've dialed it down to only have about a half in wave and I can't tell the difference in sound.

Hey Darryl, any way you can put the overflow on the long side - my big tank has 3 waves on one end, and the overflow in the centre of the "side" and this is the preferred set-up.
