Need advice on Protein Skimmer

I was wondering if someone may provide me with much needed advice. I have a new sump/refugium setup w/only 10" (width) to place a proetein skimmer. I was thinking of getting a Berlin skimmer. Does anyone have any other recommendations or information regarding Berlin skimmers. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!

Do not get a Berlin, they don't work IMHO, I have a friend with one, and without an airstone mod they are as bad as a seaclone.

I don't have any other ideas of a skimmer to fit in that small of an area though, can you give yourself a little more space?

Thanks so much for the reply!! Unfortunately, I already setup the fuge/sump this past weekend. If I can't get a good skimmer to fit in this area, I may have to break down my intial setup and start again!! Yuk!!

Depending on the size of your tank, the Coralife SS might work. I have the 65g version and it fits in a real small chamber. Plus it is only 80 bucks.

I have tried the berlin, Deltec, euroreef and Tunze, my likes are
Tunze, then Euroreef
Tunze pulls out so much from my tank, and is a small size, just my humble opinion

Try looking into the Jetskim 120 from Schuran it has a small footprint and can handle up to a 125 gallon tank.

If you have the space outside the stand, I'd go with a Deltec AP or APF600. It's worth every penny!
completely 100% disagree. There are much cheaper skimmers that will outskim the smaller deltecs.

I'd look into the Pacific coast imports recirculating skimmers. The RC2000 will do the job perfectly well, can be run externally, and only costs you $250. The NW150 may work for you too, but I dont know if it'll fit.

Check octopusskimmer.com

what space do you have, 10"x what? Can it be external?

I agree with Reefrocker and completely disagree with Rich. Deltec AP600 or APF600. I have seen the Octopus in action and I own a Deltec. Octopus is a nice skimmer but it is no Deltec.

Well what's your budget is probably the most important question? And is it for your 75G? Here is the Tunze, its $327 and uses the same pump as skimmers more than double the price.

Here is a new H&S rated for a 90G, I'd imaging the price will be very low considering the quality

Here is the 110 which runs under $400, I used the external model on a 75G and it was killer.

I've seen Philwd's skimmer (Deltec APF600) and it is really nice as well!

Funny, small world. I used to eat at TT's on Melrose all the time, I worked on Melrose & La Cienega. My mother owns a Thai restaurant in LA and we're opening one in Phoenix. My wife is currently in NY on a 5-day mission to eat at every upscale Thai/Asian restaurant in Manhattan. Gotta love market research in this industry. ;-)

I don't know how you maintain a tank being a chef. Our chef just knows one thing ... work work work work work work work. ;-)
