OK I have no idea on a cleanup crew. as of right now I have 6 nessarius, 6 cerith, 1 turbo, 10 hermit crabs, and 2 sand sifting starfish. I have a 120 gallon.

- What should I put in next?
-how many at a time?
-how long before I put more in after that?
-finally, Do I QT these Inverts or just put them straight in?

Thanks a bunch, I would put this on the world wide forums, but I seem to get much better advice locally... thanks again

also I hate hermit crabs so I probably would like to avoid them if possible.... and the ones I have now are blue leg..

I agree with you zrs6vr I hate hermit crabs. what ever you do do'nt buy one of those clean up crews off of the net. you end up buying way to many critters and they end up dying off- lack of food I suggest 2-3 snails per 10 gal monitor these for awhile if not takeing care of the problame then I would add more, adding to many at one time your looking at assured death to some.

I like astreas and ceriths. I have one fighting conch, could probably use another one or two. Also have several stomatella snails that came from the rock. I am crabless in the big tank, have one blue leg in the 10g and won't be replacing him when he goes...of course, he's been hanging around for 2 years now.

So if I end up with a total of 40 nessarius/cerith/astrea snails, and like 5 pepperment shrimp, how many fighting conchs? also Do you QT these things? how many should I put in of each at first? sorry for all the questions...

What do you need all the pepps for? I have 2 in my 120 and never see them. Catch them out occasionally at night.

Don't QT. Just drip acclimate. Add as many at once as you want to. Just don't add so many that some will end up starving later.

I like nassarius and ceriths the most. I don't like astreas. All of the astrea's I've gotten have died quickly. I'm not sure why. But I do find them upside down a lot and they can't flip themselves over. That may be why.

I would get 1-2 fighting conch's. Make sure you know the adult size of the conch you get. Because queen conch's are often sold small, but end up something like 12 inches long.

Well, my ceriths like being in the sand, as do nass., so I wouldn't think you would get much glass cleaning with just those two. I only get the occasional astrea death that way. Most of my astreas I've had for close to a year now.

I thought mine was dead because I hadn't seen him in a couple of months when I used to see him all the time. Then last weekend I spotted those eyes popping up out of the sand.

ok cool, thanks a lot... I want to get pepperment shrimp so they will moniter aptasia. I have had a small problem with it when I bought my coulerpa. but yea I never see the ceriths off the bottom but I always have 1 or 2 nessarius on the glass.. I will check out gateway.

What about cucumbers? Mine keep my sand nice and pretty.

And I laugh everytime I see a pile of cucumber poop.

get sand sifting cucumbers some others like pink and green and yellow cukes are poisonous, i have one going to get some more soon.
