Need advice re: dead frogspawn

Can someone help me understand why this Frogspawn head died please? Here's the background: I purchased it on Saturday and put it in an area of my 175g tank that was in very high flow, but lower light. Lighting is 2x250W 20K Radium's with LuminMax Elite reflectors. FS head was 33" below the lights...originally off to the side where there was lower light.

Monday afternoon I moved the entire rock it was attached to into an area with good flow, but not as brisk as where it originally was. I was concerned the first area was too much flow based on the way the FS was moving. The new area on Monday is more in the middle of the tank, with more light. However, it was not directly under the lights and still 33" down. There are two chalice frags that are even more directly under the lights that are fine. Also, there is a torch coral head that was added at the same time that is also fine.

Nitrates are zero, phosphates zero, Ca 450, Mg 1250, dKH 10.5, SP 1.0255, temp fluctuates from night to day between 79 - 82 degrees. I vodka dose .7 ml daily.

The FS head started turning brown from the outside in during the evening with the moon LED's on and was completely done within about 10 - 12 hours

Can anyone shed some light on why this frag died? Is it possible there was too much light at 33"? Is it the temp fluctuation? Could it have been beaten up by the original placement due to high flow?

I'm going to replace it and don't want to make the same mistake.

Thanks

dont be too hasty, I think its still alive just angry. you can see the polyps retracted. give it some time to adjust

They like to be in low to moderate flow high flow will cause it to retract so its tissue does not get torn. This is JMO though all the LPS i have are all in low to moderate ranges rather then high flow. Hope this helps.

I was sure it had died because of the rapid change in color and overall deterioration. However, I have not removed it and will let it remain unless I see part of my clean up crew on it. I will be shocked if it is actually alive, but nothing would make me happier.

you never know it might come back I have heard of stranger things so I would leave it be in a low flow low light area and keep a eye on it.

Went back to the LFS to get another head and found out the other heads of this particular FS died in the same timeframe. I feel a little better knowing that.
