I purchased this anemone yesterday. My tank param are all in good check and I did a water change on Friday. the anemone went in well and looked good all night and even this am. When i check on him a about 2 hrs after alll the lights on he looked like shriveled( which i know is not horrible, but is secreting a stringy brown "junk". I took a pic. will try to post. Should I be worried or just let it go? any advice is appreciated. Thanks

What type of anemone?
What size tank?
What lights?
How long has the tank been set up?
What are the actual water parameters -- "good check" really doesn't tell me enough.

It could just be acclimating, and ether discharging waste or zoax, but need more info first.

It is an H. Crispa (( the picture didn't show up when I first posted )), and a bleached one at that.

Your SG should be at 1.026

What PC bulbs (( color temps )) and what wattage? (( 400 watts doesn't work for PC bulbs, since they come in 55/65 watts [ 2 foot bulbs ] and 96 watts [ 3 foot bulbs ]. But, with that said, I really doubt that that is going to be enough light for an H. Crispa.

should i be worried about the brown junk coming out of him. is it toxic? he's looking a little better but not much.

Don't worry about that stuff for now.

However, you are going to have to make a decision -- keep the anemone and upgrade your lights (( assuming it recovers from being bleached )), or return the anemone.

why wouldnt those lights work?? how deep is your aquarium? that brown stuff is poo,, they will shrink up to expel waste,, all normal

Because it really isn't enough light. There is very little PAR in actinic PC bulbs, so basically leaves 2 96 PC bulbs over a 6 foot tank -- that isn't enough for an H. Crispa.

assuming his tank is not shallow,, than, maybe,, anywho--- ive found anemones and zoas exposed to rain during low tide , also found them in complete shade naturally

Anemones will slowly (or not so slowly) die under pc lights. May live longer with regular feeding, but will never thrive.

Okay.... though I am not sure what that has to do with that amount of PC lighting over a 125 not being enough for an H. Crispa.

I agree the lighting is low for H. cripsa an Indian Ocean species. Some of them also like to bury their stem in the sand but may climb the rock when light is sparse.

Anemones don't die under pc lighting if there is a lot of it and they get up high.. My Entmacea quadricolor( rose bubble tip) thrived for years at the top of the tank but it was under 4 96 watt pc bulbs over a 4 foot tank. Does just as well under mh lighting now.
