Hey everyone. My boyfriend is really into fish and currently has 2 cute Oscar fish. He loves saltwater fish but doesn't have a tank for him. Last week he left for training to become a federal law enforcement person and won't be back for 8 weeks.

I will like to get him a saltwater tank as a gift to show him how much I miss him. Could I set up a tank in 8 weeks? Is this a nice tank?

From what I've heard Red Sea has a good reputation. And it looks already set up so you could move it and keep it running without too much trouble.

Looks like a decent tank. I would skip the fish and focus on the setup. IMO moving a tank with some livestock is stressful for experienced folks let alone someone new. Besides picking the fish is the fun part.

If the rock is already live then you may have a minimal cycle and 8 weeks would more than likely be doable. At the top of the forum is a sticky called setting up. It is basically a book and may be of some use to you. Good luck

What a cool gift for him. Like Gone fishin said moving it will be the hardest thing. Make sure you keep as much water from the tank as you can and put the rocks in a large clean plastic container or garbage can. Leave the sand with a couple of inches of water over it in the tank. Try not to mix it up too much.

I say go for it!

Boy that would sure be a nice thing to come home to!
Have help moving it, brute cans w/ lids are nice to move water and rock, they even have wheels for them if you want.
Not sure if I'd take the clowns w/ it or not, guess it depends on your comfort zone and the clowns.
Good luck and check here for advice along the way.

Im very impressed. My wife is ok with the tank but never would have tracked it down and set it up. good on you !
