I need to remove a coral beauty from my tank pronto because all of a sudden he decided to start picking constantly on my acropora frags. ive had him for almost a year but im fed up...what is the best way to go about yankin him out of my esablished tank without destroying everything?

I borrowed an acrylic trap just like this from my LFS when I had to catch my Coral Beauty. It took a few days but they will get hungry enough to go into it.

A cheaper and more readily available option is to use a 2 liter bottle and build a trap from that. I've caught a few fish with one and it has always worked well. Something like this:

And welcome to the anti Coral Beauty club :)

wow thats a great idea from the soda bottle thank u very much Blazer :). and ill be a loud spokesperson for your club from now on if u wish.

My CB turned into a complete terror so I know what you are going through. The 2 liter bottle trap has proven effective for me though you have to get pretty creative with fishing string and a way to rig it up. I also put a small rock into the bottle to help keep it weighted down. I actually used it the other day to remove a Hogfish, I should have taken a picture of it in action. I just put some food into the bottle and yanked on the fishing line once the fish entered. It looks pretty ghetto but a good alternative to either borrowing or buying a trap. Good luck!

Fish traps, while requiring patience do work. Highly recommended. Whatever works, works even if it DOES look ghetto.
