I am leaving on a week long trip tomorrow afternoon !

Here's what I have set up for my absence.

I have a VERY accomplished Reefer coming to keep tabs on the system.

I have set aside a spare IN LINE PUMP.

a butt load of clean towels for any emergency spills

I have set up credi at my LFS in case my reefer needs EMERGENCY SUPPLIES for any unforseen disasters (cause the foreseen ones....are easier to deal with?)

I have prepped frozen food in serving sizes (ice tray...just thaw and feed)

I have labeled EVERYTHING.....ATO.....Water levels in sump and fuge, etc.

I have cleaned out my Protein Skimmer and it's running well.

I have set aside 55 gallons of RO

I have ALL conceivable chemicals and additives I have ever used on this system.

Lighting is good to go !

WHAT AM I MISSING.....? PLEASE LOOK TO MY TANK DESCRIPTION FOR WHAT I AM NEEDING TO PLAN FOR !

Thanks !

Yes, external monitoring!!!

You mean to tell me all of your fancy equipment doesnt have a web server built into it to allow for you see the readings over the WORLD WIDE WEB? All you need to do is use your ISP and a router with port re-direction. Give each web 'server' its own private IP address and depending on which reading you want that is the port you type in: www.yourexternalip:port Configure the router to point you to the respective device.

Another intuative way would be to create your own web page and have the values sent to that page for display...but that is a later class. ;)

Alex.....That is a given...always have the mini-fridge stocked !

Scuba Steve....From one vet to another...Thank you for serving our country during this time of sheer insanity !!!!!

The Expert Reefer doesn't need to steal frags from me....I bought all of mine from him !!!!!

Yes, rent..or heck buy a 1.21 Gigawatt Kohler generator.

Back in my telecom days I dealt with these huge generators and switches....as soon as the main power was lost the generator kicked in, started up and within 10-20 seconds we had power.

If you dont have this then you dont care about your reef.

I KNEW IT!! You don't care just like I suspected!!!

I always get the kid down the road to poor some food in the tank every few days.
Never knew you has to do all that other stuff before now!! :D

You have it covered, relax and make sure they can get to the RC site for help if needed. (you know where to send him right?)

YES.....ANYWHERE except the LOUNGE !!!

One other thing you may want to do is have some premixed salt water ready for him/her. Just in case they have to do an emergency water change, they won't have to worry about mixing water.

Only one problem with "an experienced reefer". They tend to like to fix "problems". Problems that really don't need fixing. Make sure you have a clear definition of what "problem" means, otherwize you could end up having to fix his fixes.

Good point, Shags! I agree. What may not seem wrong to you may seem wrong to someone else, and perhaps, given the chance and freedom to do so, the other person may try to fix your "problem."
