Need dimensions: 150SSS reef octopus height without collection cup

Im about ready to add water and rock to my setup. Orignally i had planned to purchase a skimmer in a few months but those plans may have just changed.

My stand is custom built by my wifes grandfather - it does not have a ton of head room. Anyways i thought i could add a 150sss later but after mocking up the dimensions with cardboard it does not look like it will fit through the front doors.

My question is how much shorter is the unit without the collection cup installed? This may give me enough room to add at a later date? Otherwise i may just have to buy now and drop it through the top of the stand (obviosuly before i add water which i was hoping to do this week).

Cliffs notes: want to add the skimmer later. At the dimensions goven by the manf. I cant drop it into place due to height. Need to know height without cup for additional clearance into the sump.

Forgive my typos, im posting via my phone.

The body alone is 13" the collection cup adds another 7" for a total of 20". Because of the design of this skimmer (pump inside body) you MUST be able to remove it from the sump for maintenance.

Perfect, with the cup off (13") I should have plenty of room to get it in and out. The 21" total height with cup is just a tad to big. You have made my day!!!

Remember that it needs to sit in ~8" of water. Too shallow and it will never produce foam, too deep and it will overflow

Thanks for the reminder - I can say I actually designed for this! I have set my baffle height at 9" (20g long) so I should be covered there (room either way to set it up).

9" is at the upper limit for depth but should still be fine.
