Need DIY palns for 240 Gallon Tank Stand

hahahahahahahha, yes, i thought about a bigger pump, but i think my current over flows (2 x 1.5") won't keep up with the flow... i think... not sure... anyone know?

i am going to draw out my stand... so i can get a quote from a carpenter...

Here is a pic of my stand and canopy. It is only a 120 but you could modify it to fit any size tank.

Here is a link to the thread in which I documented the entire build process, including the framing. Again, not the dimension you need but you can modify to fit your tank. HTH

i got the basic idea for my stand... i am actually going to go with 4x6 in the 4 corners, i am pulling up my carpeting on tuesday, to find out the floor structure in side the house where i want to put the tank. if it isn't what i think, i may have to divide the load up to about 8 vertical beams instead of 4...

any progress on your stand dr hank?

Built the stand framework over the weekend. I even managed to get it into the den last night. Tonight I hope to set it in place in the den. I'm so strapped for space that I'll probably have to skin and finish it there in the den. I'll lay down a small tarp to protect the carpet and get some friends to help me remove it after the stand and hood are done. At least most of my work will be in the comfort of the AC.

I built the framework of 2X4 and 2X6 pine.

That's a beautiful stand and hood Marino. A bit fancier than mine will be.

Does anybody have/know where I can get plans to build a wooden stand for my 240 (96"X24"X24")?

Just use 2 x 4 and double up the framing....

Thanks folks for all your input. Got the framework done and am working on skinning and trim work.

A while back I posted a picture of the stand frame:

Here is the facade after it was built and stained:

Here is the facade around the tank:

I finished building the raised panel doors this morning. They have been stained and should be finished and installed by tomorrow evening. The tank is on the reef tour this Saturday. There is nothing like waiting until the last minute :D

I am slowly adding more to the stand calculator. The next version will have all the molding/trim added to the cut list for the facade.

Thanks,

Scott
