Need emergency help!

Having a huge tank emergency but first here is the back story to get you caught up.

I am in the process of upgrading to a larger tank. My plan was going well for the past few weeks until today. my Plan was to cure rock, cycle new tank then slowly over the next few weeks add my fish and corals, not in any rush. I have a total of 5 small fish, 1 bta, 1 shrimp, 2 starfish (brittle and fromia), and half a dozen hermits and snails and 6 small coral frags.

Anyways, I had cured dry rock and seeded it with some rock and sand in my current established tank for several weeks in a tote. I moved all rock to the new tank and let it sit for a few days. I tested and didn't find any ammonia nitrite but there was nitrates. I decided to throw in a piece of shrimp just to make sure and it did cycle for about 4 days from ammonia .25, nitrite .50 and nitrate .20. I did 20 % water change and then for the past 3 days ammonia and nitrite 0 and nitrate less than 5ppm.

Here is my problem 3 days ago I needed to move some of my old rock into the new tank to aqua scape. I had 6 rocks weighing about 32lbs and took out 3 of them that didn't have nem, starfish or goby living under. It was a little messy so I did a 20%water change after I removed the rocks. Yesterday morning I noticed one of my hermits eating a snail. I removed it and checked tank levels. There was zero ammonia but there was .25ppm nitrites. I quickly did 2 water changes of 20% twice yesterday one in morning and one in evening. I even put on an extra hob filter with filter floss, and the white pillow stuffing stuff cannot remember name. Levels are still the same. I am afraid that I took the super heavy rocks out (except one with nem on) that I don't have enough of a filter. My nem doesn't look happy but everyone else seems fine.

I don't really know what to do at this point. Do I get everyone out into the new tank? I want to get the nem out of there but it is on big rock which might disturb things even more and not leave enough live rock left to be a filter. ( I cannot get the goby or firefish without moving the remaining rocks.) Do I remove corals and fish I could catch? I don't want to over load the new system and everyone die, or keep everyone in the old system and everyone die!
Sorry for the babbling but I want to act fast if I have to and I don't want to do it without consulting the experts! Thanks in advance!!

Update

I talked to a local reefer and he told me not to freak. I did move my 2 clowns and hermits and snails over to the new tank. The nitrites seems to be getting more blue not yet perfect but getting better. I am going to barely feed my old tank since I only have 3 small fish left in that tank. The clowns seem very happy with all their new space. I will now be taking my time of slowly moving things over to the new tank.
New tank has a DIY sump and refug I am happy I made the upgrade. This upgrade all started with talking hubby into building a sump and refug for my small tank and he decided to go bigger now! I went out that weekend and got a 75gal tank.

I moved all my stuff into the new tank at once. Didn't keep all my old rock, either.

Just keep an eye on things, what you are likely to produce is deficiency in filter ability in one or the other tank (as you are dealing with now).

IMO just finish getting the new one transferred, and running the way you want it. Keep an eye on parms and be ready for water changes when necessary.

I think keeping a close eye on one tank is easier than 2.

Your new tank might be rough on the nem anyway. So good luck with the transfer!
