I'm very interested in putting a wavebox on my 180 gallon AGA but I am curious about the noise you get in your overflows from the change in water height due to the wavebox.

Any feedback would be great.

so is this not a good product for AGA? i am thinking of buying one, but i am kinda worried about wear and tear/shortening the life span of my 230gal. AGA

I have a Wavebox in my 180 AGA.
The noise is negligible.
Wouldn't worry about some small percentage reduction in the life of your tank. I have a siliconed tank in operation that is almost 30 years old, so if my new 180 only lasts another 28 years, it won't worry me too much :D

alot depends on the direction, placement and force of the "impact", but typically speaking a well made acrylic tank will withstand leaking more so than a well made glass/siliconed. This is only because the acrylic pieces are not really "glued", but are actually fused/melted together by the "glue" that is used for acrylic.

Now, if the acrylic tank is not properly braced, it is more succeptible to a large pane blowout than a glass tank (front, rear, etc). But acrylic also have more flexibility, so it can bow more than a glass tank without breaking (and typically will bow more just in normal use).

Hope this info helps, although it is not directly related to a wave box in an acrylic tank, it is indirectly related to your underlying question :)
