Well long story short I was in the process of selling off the livestock in my tank due to my spine surgery complications and difficulty maintaining. Well come Thursday me and my wife were hit hard by the mud slides and hail storms. It happened so fast that we are truly lucky to be posting this today. I am gonna explain the story and hopefully successfully setup my home videos of what we saw from our point of view up at our house in lake Hughes.

But before we get to the story let's start with the tank. We had to leave the house and had no power for 2 days so we lost all the fish that weren't sold yet. Luckily I had already sold most of the more precious corals and really I only have very easy hardy corals left in there. I have quite a few rocks covered nicely in pretty large colonies of green starburst polyps 6-10". Also have a larger eagle eye colony. And about 4-6giant green mushrooms grouped together. I just want to get it out of the tank and leave the corals on the rocks for you to take. Power is back on now so I'm hoping things get better for them and hopefully a few people can jump in and take them with the rock. The water got into the wall that the tank is against so I have to tear down my system and get it in the garage and more then likely part the parts out. Please pm me with any questions if you can help take the rock coral and sand.

So at about 3pm Thursday my wife just got home with from the mall with my 1 year old daughter. She immediately laid her down and we noticed the rain started to pick up. Within 5 mins the rain had turned to hail and I noticed that our trucks were facing the wind and hail storm and grabbed the keys to go flip the trucks the opposite way. While I was grabbing boots and truck keys to head out to the storm. The hail got the size of golf balls and was coming down so hard and fast that it would of knocked me right out if I even attempted to walk outside. So I quickly ran over to my wife video taping the hail and just as I got to out sliding glass window a flood of water about 2-3 feet came rushing straight through our backyard. At this point I know something is wrong and go running to my front door where I find a river of water moving to quickly to exit the house through and rising way to rapidly. I get my wife on the phone with 911 which was useless because the operator had no idea what we're trying to explain what was even going on. She says there sending a fire truck and hangs up. I go run back to the front porch that's about 4ft high up and the water is starting to come up the stairs. I start filming it with my phone so I can text it to our family friend that is fire department so they can truly see how bad it really is. I notice right before I start filming that our neighbors house is completely gone and had floated about 600ft down the hill and my trailer was completely gone not even in site until later when I find it down the road a mile or so.

Once are fire friend calls back he lets us know that they sent a rescue chopper out to come get us. Before he called I already started planning and got a ladder setup to get in the attic Aswell as a sludge hammer and ax to break the roof out and get hoisted out. By the time I got back in the house and had everything ready to go up in the attic I notice I have a safe path out. It's risky because the wall that was left and didn't fall is now holding back 6ft of water and rising. And our sliding back doors were about ready to break and flood in. I grab the wife and the dogs and the kid. And anything I needed to get out and loaded the truck up. Right as I start the truck the chopper comes over head and circles I get in 4x4 low and manage to get through the back side of my house and over to the neighbors house which is higher ground.

I know my vocab and grammar is gonna be sloppy through this as I have much more important **** to do right now. But I wanted to see if any one would be willing to take all the tukani and totoka rock with corals on them as I'd like to have it go to some one who knows what there doing and can possible help get them back to full health. I am located in lake Hughes in antelope valley. I know there's a few dedicated guys on here in Palmdale and Santa Clarita.

Hope you enjoyed the story and if you can help PM me.
Thanks
Nick

Very sorry about your house and personal belongings... I am glad you got your family out safely... Unfortunately I don't have the space in my tank for your rock and live rock. If you need some help breaking it down let me know and I will try to get up there to help you..

Appreciate all the responses. And yes all that matters is everyone is safe. If you want any of the corals I can break or cut the rock into smaller pieces for anyone intrested in the corals.I'm gonna be up at my house tomorrow to see how the corals are even doing and maybe I'll try and bring them to a LFS in Simi.

We board our horses in Leona Valley and a wall of mud buried one of our horses up to his neck when it propelled him over a 6' pipe corral fence. Here is a video of his rescue (that is my husband in the checkered shirt with the blonde hair by Skip's head):

He was down for 8 hours from 5 pm until 1 am and is 33 years old (approximately 92 human years).

Here is the link to him standing up:

Glad to hear you and your family are all well.

It is so difficult to imagine that we are hardly getting any rain here in Pacoima which is only a few hours from where you are and you are experiencing this type of weather. I am sorry you had to go through this but your family is safe so that is a huge blessing.

We have had no rain in west Anaheim, so I was very surprised to hear you got flooded and had to evacuate.

Nick,
Holy cow.. What a story. I am glad you and your family are OK.

Joyce,
I'm glad your horse is OK too!

Crazy weather and you hear stories about flash flooding but it really hits home when you read personal horror stories like this in our local forum. If I were closer, I would consider taking the rock and coral but given my proximity, it's a bit of a long drive for me to pick up stuff I don't really need.

Baby is #1 priority!
Glad to hear you're all safe.
Take care, and sorry to hear about the house :(

I am in Palmdale but I do not think I have a tank big enough to accommodate! I only have a 50 cube but if you need me to swing over and assist with anything that might fit just PM me and I'll be there in a blink. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. lmk if there is anything I can help with. I'm local
