I want to get a fish that I saw in someone's tank awhile ago. I know a picture will help but I don't have one. It was a red fish which will bury it's self in the sand with the head popping out. It had a normal fish shape body and swim mid level. When spooked it will dart into the sand. I think the fish started with the letter C.

There's about a thousand which fit that description, but if I were to shoot in the dark (never recommended), I'd say a Red Coris.

Thanks I think that's it. Why won't you reccomend it? I saw a yellow on YouTube which looked cool.

He doesn't recommend shooting in the dark. You never know what your going to hit.

If I'm not mistaken the red coris wrasse can be quite destructive when it gets bigger.
But this can also be true.

It's certainly a species to do your research on and know what you're getting into, prior to purchase. Adults are over a foot in length.

Lastly,
I saw a yellow on YouTube which looked cool.
Of an entirely different genus. Don't trust common names! The traits of Coris & Halichoeres are quite different.

Coris wrasse and the common name of "yellow coris" wrasse are misleading. True coris wrasses are basically for fish only tanks, or the occasional specialized large reef. Yellow "coris" is actually a Halichoeres species of wrasse... much more suited to a reef.

Thanks for the information. I think I am going to get a yellow coris. I just bought 2 more bags of sand to add so he has a little more to dig in.

As for shooting in the dark just get night vision. It's easier to shoot in the dark with night vision then the day without.
