Need help all live stock dying in reef tank....

for what it is worth i agree with many of the abobe comments. it sounds like something got into your water. i would do a large water change every 2 days until things seem to improve. i would also run carbon and run your skimmer wet.

if you want the fish out you can try getting a fish trap. i just got one from toofishy.com and they work great. just a suggestion

************** good luck ***************

did you accidentally crack a heater, maybe its putting voltage in your tank??

i just thought of it now, or i would have posted in my earlier post,

nonetheless, i would set up a hosp. tank for now if you can

good luck, i hate it for you to be goin thru this.

Did any of your pumps seize? If so, you may be leaking oil into the tank. Rio's are notorious for doing this; or so I've heard...

not sure if your married or with a girlfriend but i have heard stories of couples having arguments and the next day problems with tank. just think how easy it would be to get revenge. You could poor just a small amount of any clear liqiud in tank (bleach, amonia, alcohol, etc.) and wipe out everything with no trace of wrong doing. Now i'm not suggesting anything, don't know your situation, its just something that i have heard of on a few ocassions

Nick just wondering hows the tang doing today , and are the other fish doing great specialy the chevern tang , i hope everything is a lot better ,just make sure you do another water change lmk

I just want to thank everyone for all the help and suggestions..

To answer the questions in the prev. posts. I check all the pumps and heaters today everything is work fine... Nope no one put anything in the tank, everyone that I live with loves all the fish and corals.

Last night i put the hippo tang in the Formulin -3 Dip for 30 mins and he was actually doing good in there. I put him back in the qt for a little while and he was just sitting there not doing much, so I put him in a bigger tank and he was swimming around and then I went to bed and in the morning he was Dead....

So today I took a ride to That pet place / that fish place ( 2 1/2 hour drive) because they have Marine Bio there and i brought the fish there, she said there is no external fugus or parsites... The only thing that she can said was that it might have been an internal infection or a bacteria. She told me to put in Rally in the tank but I have not done that yet...

When I got home for PA i was doing a major water change i found the below worm. I am not sure if he is bad, i think it is just a bristle worm but I took him out anyways

Also what are these on my rocks: Are they just some type of fan worm?

So back to the fish, sorry I got carried away... At that pet place, they tested my water and everything read fine besides Ammonia, it was 0.2 but she said most likely that is from the fish that died.... The nitrates were 10 and the nitrites are 0.. The 4 that are in there now seem doing be doing ok, they are not breathing as heavy as before but i guess time will tell and I will never really know what killed all those fish...

Thanks
Nick

Well so far everything is ok in the tank.... The purple tang, chevern tang and the 2 nemos are still alive and seem to be doing ok right now.....

Any know what the pictures above are.... I heard the things off the rocks are some type of nsnail...

Thanks
Nick

Did you at anytime have your bare hands in the tank??? Amazing how a little cologne/soap/hand lotion can wipe out a whole tank.

Yea i had my hands in the tank but they were not dirty.... I don't use lotion at all and i normally don't but cologne on my hands lol :).....just messing with you...

But that is a good point if you did put some cologne or lotion in the tank....But none was in mine

I just wanted to give everyone an update... Well the last 4 fish are still alive. The purple tang, chervon tang and the 2 nemos are still kicking.. I still have no idea what happened to the rest of my live stock but right now I started another fish tank and that has been going for about 1 1/2 weeks now... Once that is done cycling I am going to buy some more fish and start over again .

I just want to thank everyone for all the help and suggestions

Nick

Feel for you, my first attemp at stocking crashed 2 tanks. 90% loss. This is not as easy as it sounds. Goldfish starting to sound good. (kidding)
