My tank has been up and running for about 5 months now. Within the past week my fish are dropping like flies!!??
First my pair of ORA Picasso clowns have died. Both were eating fine. I woke up one morning last week and one was stuck to the intake. He appeared to be fine. Two days later I noticed some white slime on the other clown and within a day he was gone. I immediately thought of Brooklynella but I thought it only showed up on new fish?
My firefish died suddenly a few days after that. He has a small patch of white stuff near his right eye, not like cotton, maybe 2-3mm in size. He was eating fine, didn't noticed anything wrong with him other than the white stuff? I went to be and woke up and he had died.
I woke up this morning and both of my skunk cleaner shrimps are dead?? Both were eating fine. I watched one eat a large mysis shrimp last night. I found one, nothing appeared to be wrong and the other one I think my hermits / snails got to him because he's nowhere to be found.
Then this evening I noticed my Coral beauty within HOURS had some white stuff on the side of his body and at the top of his dorsal fin and side pec fins. It's not cotton-y just a white patch. I did notice him flash a little bit against the rock near his cave on the right side of his head two days ago. Something else odd is he went to the one of the cleaner shrimps and nudged him to say hey clean me and he would float right in front of him and stay for about a min. I think the shrimps are too well fed because he didn't touch him and after about a min he would swim off. He did this several times.
Could this be ich? I though ich was little dots not patchy looking? I've been searching every thread out there and the only two things that sound remotely possible is velvet or brooklynella.
Whatever it is it's wiped out almost my entire tank!!??
I'm so depressed. I dosed the tank with Paraguard tonight, not sure what good if any that will do. If it is velvet or brooklynella, that wouldn't cause both of my shrimps to die would it? I didn't think either of those effected invertebrates and all of my snails and hermits are fine.
I tried to take a picture of the firefish and coral beauty but unfortunately what I'm seeing in person doesn't show up in the pictures.
My water parameters are fine so I have no idea what's going on?? I know without a picture it's sort of impossible to diagnose but does anyone have any ideas?
