I am planning get a vortech for my 60g cube, placing at the back wall, along with my return. Should I get the m20 or m40? Pls help!

I have a 40 in my 58g and it's only at about 50% on pulse. It's dependent on how much water you want to push and what you're keeping. I'm likely going to move the 40 to my new tank and put a 20 in it's place.

Hunch is, 20 will do the trick.

I pick up my cube today and I will be going with a MP40w just because I can get it new for less then a MP20 + Upgrade to MP40w. Think long term. If you ever in your wildest imagination think you might upgrade past the 60Cube, go with the 40, If this will be a stand alone tank then grab the 20.

+1 for the 40. More options/flexibility and you can always dial it down. It will be very quiet running at 50% or below and the motor will stay cooler, not that that is an issue outside the tank. They're both the same physical size, so you're not gaining anything there.

Also +1 for the 40 since it has the wireless drivers.
If you decide to upgrade, you can add another and they can cause all sorts of flow in the tank.

You can also upgrade the 20 in the future if you need too.

True, but I can buy a MP40w from my LFS for $385. The retail price on the mp20 is $299 and a $100 to upgrade it. So its $15.00 more if you opt to upgrade it down the line.

The cost is actually $150 to upgrade the MP20 to an MP40w. The upgrade kit consists of the wireless wave driver and a power supply. Upgrading the MP20 to the wireless wave driver alone will not work.

I was comparing retail prices. Not all of us here can get everything at a discount.

LCN,

not sure if that was directed towards me. $385.00 is the retail price for Joe Schmo walking in off the street at my LFS.

I have to say I'm blessed with a great LFS here in Tampa that 95% of the time is less expensive then the best online deal I can find.

Now if I can get him to order me a BubbleKing Mini160 for me ;)
