Need Help Deciding

Hi,
I'm getting ready to put my calcium reactor back online after a long rebuild.
I currently have an Apex controlling most of my tank.
I'm going to need to purchase a new probe and I'm thinking of adding a stand alone Milwaukee ph controller. The cost is not that much more for the controller with probe compared to a new lab grade Neptune probe.
Also not all that comfortable with all my eggs in one basket.
Need some opinions. I don't want to spend or waste any more money than needed.

A probe is Not a necessity.
