Need help designing a closed loop system

Hi all - I'm getting ready to order my new tank (210) and want to design the closed loop system so I can specify where the holes go. This is going to be driven by an OM4-way. I've been doing some reading over on the Ocean Motion site, where they recommend having a "clockwise flow, when viewed from the right side of the tank" - meaning back to front, bottom to top.

I'd like all the holes from the bottom, so I can put my tank as close to the wall as I can - so as I see it I can either run two returns up from the overflow, or drill the returns into the tank.

Any thoughts on which way to go?

Basically, just looking for variety - I know there's no one right way.

Thanks!
Mike

How many sides of the tank are going to be seen? If the tank has a side that isnt going to be seen at all maybe you could drill holes there, although that might hurt future resale value.I know alot of people with large tanks dont like having holes in the bottom of the tank. I think tacoking does though so maybe ask him how he has his setup. I think he posted a descrition not long ago.

Click on my little red house there's a 210 pennisula if this gives you some ideas.
That's an AGA tank with a 3/8" glass overflow box Acrosteve and I put on there so it's kinda custom.
Thanks Steve ;)

Thanks everybody -

Jakano the tank will be seen from the front and two sides - back against the wall.

Romeo - Thanks! Looks like a sweet setup you've got there.

Thanks Dustin - I'll get back to you soon.

try sending Hollback a PM. I think his tank is set up similar - he called the flow of water a "barrel roll". I think all of his holes were in the back, but in order to get the pipes to the front he ran them under the sand. you could something similar by running your pipes for the back-to-front flow through the bottom, under sand, then up the back wall with a 90* elbow facing front.

I took Paul from OM's advice and set it up with a slight modiification of this. It works amazing and does a great job keeping particulate suspended. I have no detritus in my display. It makes much more sense to barrel roll the water colum then have one side on, then the other. The flow just competes. The barrel roll keeps the water moving in the same direction.

Yeah, I've been talking with him about that very thread too. For whatever reason, it's just not clicking with my bottom-only idea I have stuck in my brain.

Hollback, I'll pm you for additional info.

Thanks!
