ive got a sixline wrasse trapped in my overflow box. ive pulled out the stand pipe, locked off the valve so he cant get out. my SCWD is still in there so i cant get a great grab with the net. whats the best alternative? im lowering the water as far down as i can...

the end of the valve is a solid pipe that drains to my sump, it dosent have an open end, just small holes drilled into it... i think i might have to cut that pipe off... oh what a mess

oh and ive been missing this sixline for over a month. it still has all of its color and is eating like a champ since all the food gets strained into the overflow... the grab it method wont work since the overflow is so far down. its on a 90 so its rather deep...

i am 5'8", with SHORT arms, and i can reach bottom of my 29.5" 210g. overflows......just try, i'm positive you can reach ;)

i can reach, but i guess the problem is that the scwd and tubing is in the way... i can not remove the scwd its threaded in. i think im going to leave him be for the time being, ill wait till i can get some help. im going to remove my canopy so i can get at it better. anyway ill keep you all posted... thanks for all the help thus far

I thought the valve would be a union ball-valve that you could colse and unscrew. I have these under my overflow boxes. You could try and drain the water with the fish in there so it would be easy to scoop out or maybe just siphon the fish out. Failing that, just cut the pipe. All you need is a coupler to repair it and you'll always have something there to remember the incident by. :D

ok so i never got anyone here to help, im going to have to remove my canopy and seeing as how its 26" tall and pretty heavy i didnt get it moved. anyway the sixline is still there doing just fine. my next day off, thursday, i believe im going to end up cutting the drain pipe and letting him drain into a cup. i already replaced the fish with another, so ill have to give him away. thanks for all your help with this, i just freaked when i saw him in there... ill have to fabricate some sort of cover after this is all done to keep other livestock from the same mess...
