Need Help Getting My PIII On Line

Well it is time to get my PIII back on line. It was origionally on line, but, due to my inability to maintain a free Dyndns account I lost everything. Last time Boboxx was kind enough to set it all up. This time I need to cut the cord and learn to do this myself. I can't be the only PIII user that does not work in the networking industry, so there must be a guide for the regular users.

I do not mind reading so if any of you can point me to some links where I can get started, that would be great. I have the most recent firmware loaded on my PIII as of last night. I have the ability to connect via lan from home but can not access the web server any more. I also own the Marine Mad software for my iphone and was able to use that when it first came out.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks C, I was really hoping GHL had created some instructions to get the average user on line with their webserver, but, I suspect I am in the minority of PIII users. It seems all of the owners I know work in the computer industry in some capacity so they are a little more prepared to take on this type of task. Anyway, let me know when a good time for you will be. This time I will do the key strokes so I remember how to do it.

So next question. I have the Marine Mad iPhone app. I have recently discovered that the app has morphed in to two different apps. The one I origionally purchased is now called a read only app. My question is, is the Controller version worth the price or is it redundant with the webserver?

You have to look for documentation/instruction from your router manufaturer, they are the one enabling this bridge, you profilux is just a network device.... all the configuration is already done on the p3 side, you are just missing the dns resolution on yours (you can use your external ip currently and it will work) just go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ and it will show you your IP.

the other reason it's also hard to do doc is that every router is different, you have to go in your router to see what dynamic dns is supported.

I am pretty much redy when you are. I already registered with a DNS service and have an account al set up. Got all of the ip stuff ready and have my router ip. Hit me on MSN when you have about 15 minutes and i am sure we can get it done. I am a little more prepared than last time and will record the process this time.

Ya I think they all have that option. Problem is you have to visit the sites once a month to keep your free access for one host account. I paid $15 for an annual lisence that will allow me to have up to 30 host. This way it does not ever expire and I also signed up for the auto renewal. Boboxx spent an hour or so online with me tonight so I am back on the webserver and marine mad.
