Need help identifying what ever is taking over my tank!!!

I have this small green polyp taking over my rocks. I can not find it online what is it and I would like to know how to get rid of it. From what I can see it looks like need to tare Dow the tanks. Some how I can not add picture clicking on the image icon but it is dead. Any help would be welcome.

Does it stay open all the time, or do they retract into the rock or perhaps a pink/purple mat? Or, are you talking about little round green balls? The stuff Humblefish posted is green star polyps which retract I to a sort of pink or purple mat in the dark - it is very invasive. If you have the little green balls, that would probably be valonia algae which is also highly invasive and nearly impossible to irradicate.

No one ever needs to tare down a tank for any pest...
Removal/replacement/treatment of the effected rock may be all you need
