Hi RC,

So, my tank has been running for about a year and a half now with no problems. Recently, I've noticed these thin, stringy, yellowish-red things coming out of my sand bed. I didn't think much of it the first time I saw it, but as time passed I began to see more and more of them coming out of my sand bed. I took a wooden skewer stick and poked at one and noticed that it burrowed itself more into the sand. So apparently these things are alive. I was able to dig into the sand and lift one of these suckers out.

Kind of a bad picture, but this is what they look like when they're in my sand bed with their legs out.

Here is a picture of one caught on a stick. The picture came out bad cause of my crappy macro capabilities on my camera phone. But it actually had a somewhat long body with a bunch of legs coming out of it.

Please help me ID these things. Should I be worried about them? Is there anything I could do to get rid of them?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I looked up peanut worms and they seem much bigger than the things in my tank. Their legs are as thin as pin needles and they pretty much stay put, burrowed in the sand.
