Need help making a light rack

^^^
Haha... I would need to cut the quick disconnect off, and re-attach it though.

I'm going to try the zip-ties first, and see how it looks.

Should just be a standard 3 wire deal...I'd think it would be pretty easy to re-attach. Of course you'd do it on the bottom where the wire nuts and electrical tape wouldn't be seen, but I'm sure I didn't even need to mention that part of it to you :)

Thanks. Our family friend came through big time. Gave me about 8 pieces of conduit, plenty of 90 degree clamps (in case bending didn't go so well,) and walked me though a crash course in bending at his job site.

All I needed to buy was the straps to hold it to the stand and the clamps that hold the light to the conduit. So it only cost me like $2.00, and I got it on the first attempt.

(well 2nd... I did a practice 90 degree bend on a small scrap piece first... so I could get an idea of how the sucker worked). :)

99% finished... I need to go pick up some black zip ties tomorrow.

very nice...seeing the cord would drive me crazy, i would run the cord in the conduit but i am a perfectionist. or so my gf tells me!

Thanks guys. I'm going to see if I can pick up some black screws later today. I didn't paint them because I figured they would chip every time I had to screw them in or out.

Haha... that cord will be invisible when I'm done. ;)

Try a black sharpie on the screws....will not chip and easy to touch up!

that's a sexy tank, makes mine look like a pile.
I REALLY like the rimless tank, gonna have to look into one of those someday

You do great work.
Could you flip the light so the cord is on the left, and run the cord through the conduit?

Also, I think Harbor Freight had a dirt cheap bender in the sale circular this week.

TJ,
Very Nice! The bent conduit looks way better with the curves instead of just coming up and over the back middle of the tank like most have done. You said the light can swing out of the way. Is that due to something different you put on it or is the conduit just able to rotate in the brackets? Just curious for when I do my light fixture.

Thank you. I really like the rimless look, but does require a little extra cleaning. I need to wipe down the top rim daily from salt spray.

Are you done moving all your frags out of QT and into the display?
Yep, finally done. I have a few corals left in the frag tang, but don't think I'm going to add them unless they really color up.

Thanks. I don't want to run the cord through the conduit, because I don't want to cut the quick disconnect off an reattach it. Not because it would be difficult (it would be easy) but for re-sale value.

Thanks, I wanted to try and keep the rimless look and have the pendant floating above the tank. I think a bar coming up in the middle would have really broken up the smooth clean look to the top of the tank.

As far as it swinging out of the way. I just use the plastic conduit straps to hold the conduit in place. They don't hold very tight, so the conduit is able to rotate inside them.
