Hi,
I just came back from a trip to find my monti fell on top of my acan. They were def.battling. a few of the eyes(?) On the acan are missing their green flesh/ mouth. What should I do? I took some pics but with the lights out it is hrd to see. Basicly the acan has red flesh with a green center(feeding tubes) on some of the eyes the green has fully rotted away. The red flesh sill looks good.
Will the damged parts recover? Should I risk fragging?

Acan now, look at the center eyes

Well, the acan was picked clean in the night where it had rotted due to the fight with the jumping Monti. so, now my nice pretty acan as 3 dead sections right in the center. Will it eventually overgrow the dead spots? or should I frag it into smaller pieces :)

this is pretty frustrating this is the first and best grown coral i had....

I would leave it be as well. If the center of the polyp is still there it should grow back, if not it will probably re-populate that area from the side. If it gets overgrown with algae, you might frag it then. This acan lord grew back after getting destroyed by the acan echinata behind it.

Just took a look at it. The rest is sending out feed tenticals, I think it will be alright. Hopefully it out grows the bald spot.

it will heal over the skeleton, it will take time though... all of my acans have individual heads, but i suppose it could be an acan echinata? not sure though, haha, it just looks weird to me, i like the green feeder tenticles though

Wow! Man, I'm sorry that happened! Damn monti cap >:|
Just let it do it's thing though, make sure you keep your water quality the best you can and give it all the elements it can use to help repair itself. Time is on your side! :) Keep us updated though on what happens, we wish you the best with your coral mate :)

ouch!! had a similar thing where a chalice fell over onto my austalmoussa and the part that feel got damaged and not there is skeleton there. I hope it recovers and covers the skeleton. Currently im dosing with iodine to help the healing process.
