Need help... new tank pending

so, I'm finally settle down into the new house, and the first thing that comes to mind, "when can I start the new tank!?" Ok, so, I've got $500 ($400 preferably), for an aquarium no larger than 75 gallons. I would like to keep fish commonly raised in reef aquaria- bartlett's anthias, chromis, gobies and to have a relatively small bioload. also, i'd like to keep the aquarium as sterile-looking as possible, so could I treat with copper on a regular basis (realying on mechanical filtration), or would this adversly affect the bacteria in the aquarium (and would it affect the anthias?) Please reply!

Adversely affect bacteria: Possibly, most likely yes.

Price Range: Are we talking about full set up, or 400$ just for the tank?

Stock: If you want to keep all those species of fish, make sure the tank size you buy is accordingly large enough for the fish you intend to keep.

O.K. So, even though it's larger than 75 gallons (alot bigger.) I've been offered a 250 gallon custom acrylic aquarium for only $200. Could I clean it out, fix the scratches, and drill some holes in the back for a closed look, and hook it up to a sequence dart? (3,600gph) If I only wanted about a dozen fish under 3" each, then could I rely on biological filtration solely?

Yes, although if you're going to have that big of a tank, you'll have to have a decent stand. At which point you might as well put a sump down below in the stand and you can usually maintain a lot better water quality that way. Closed loop is OK, but I'd prefer a sump with all your heaters and what not going down there and return flow into the tank.
