Need help on Chalice Placement

I just got Jayda watermelon and my lightning is 4x54W HO T5 Tek light. Where should I place it? do they like medium to strong current? thanks

I'd recommend placing them at the bottom first and let them acclimate to the T5, even after that probably no higher than bottom third of the tank..Depends on the morph some can tolerate moderate to even strong lighting but most I find seem to color better with low and indirect lighting.

the previous owner put it hight under his 6 bulbs T5 HO TeK. If I put low in my tank. Do it get enough light?
thanks Justin

That is ALOT of light for a chino, how long did he have it that high in his system? If it was for a couple months or more, Id say it sounds safe to put it pretty much where ever you want it within reason. But if he only had it for a month or so, that would still be too early to tell if it was responding well to the high light or not. Regardless, with chalice corals, always a safe bet to put em on the bottom and/or shaded till you find out for sure. Lot easier to color one up that way if it's not enough as opposed to bringing it back from photo shock and too much light.

LOL

All this time wasnt even paying attention to the morph you said you got. I personally dont have this morph but the ones Ive seen look best when kept on the bottom. There color appears more rich and less washed out, HTH.

I don't know how long he had it, let me try to lower it down and see how it goes. Thanks Justin

NVTE,

I have my Jayda at the bottom of the tank (36 inches from light) under 150 MH in the shade. It started to bleach out under direct light at the bottom.

This OT but nice avatar.

Emc2 . how come? mine is about 9 inches from my light right now, and growing out. It sits in same placement with my Bazooka Joe.

don't want to thread-jack, but is 1/2 way up in a tank lighted with solaris too high for a grape watermelon?
