Need help on Len suggestion

I just received an early Christmas gift for my wife.

I got a Nikon D80. I looking around for a good and reasonable priced Macro lens.

The Nikkor 105VR is an excellent choice, but not reasonably priced. The older 105 (non-VR) is also an excellent choice and comes with a better price tag, used lenses are available.

Sigma 105 or 150 and Tamron 90 come on good recommendation from many, though I've shot with neither.

I was looking at the Nikkor 105 and the Tamron 90.. I would like the Nikkor, but the Tamron's price is better..

I've seen people post great shots from either lens.

Seems like a popular choice. I don't have any personal experience with it though. Shop at a place where returns are an option and you'll have an out if by chance you don't get a good one.
