*Need Help (Pics)*

Thanks for the points Tswifty. Always good to see you tag along.

Yea I was thinking of the overflow issue when planning it, so I decided to set it in it's own box.. at least (while i'm asleep) if it overflows it will go right back into he skimmer box.

I hope it all pays off.. been about a month now and a few thousand later with all the equipment, shipping, tanks, woodwork, pumps, lights, etc.. all I want is an algae free tank :(

I'll keep an eye on it for the next 2 weeks, I figured it had to have a break in time.

My mandarin died in QT... sigh. Don't think I'll get another one.. I had this one since August though.

My get a tang to replace it.

Really tired of everything... today I accidentally overdosed alkalinity two part and now my brand new sump is caked in a white frosting so I can barely see in the glass, my main tank is a cloud, inside of the new skimmer has that white frosting on it, some of my DT glass,, argh!!!!!!!! I could throw it all out in the window. So much work and I all want is a tank that looks half decent.. makes me want to give it all away.:mad2:

On top of that I took a turkey blaster to blast guck off the rocks and when I started doing that my skimmer stopped working or wasn't foaming. Some bubble algae and hair algae got sucked into it..although I saw them inside the skimmer body and not stuck in the pump intake. Will this clog the pumps at all? :mad2:

Deep breaths, a little diversion, find your happy place. :)

Sorry about your trouble, but do keep in mind that you have not taken on a SMALL project. That sump room is extensive, so it's understandable that you may be wearing yourself out a little. But I don't believe you would have embarked on such an ambitious plan if you did not wish to see it to fruition. A little patience, a little perseverance, and you'll get there. That's a better guarantee than many other things. ;)

You'll enjoy retelling this story when showing off your incredible reef.

Good luck!

I'm going to read over this thread in a couple of days. I don't have time to read all 8 pages tonight as I have a lot to do Monday. :)

Glad to have you aboard melev. No rush... because well... nothing good happens quickly in a reef LOL.

Should be noted that there are some posts regarding my issue nearing the bottom of this page with hop.

Thank you Whys... good to have your inspiration.

Ok time for updates... new pictures and some video.... opinions on everything please... including my homemade spray bar. The chaeto seems to be breaking up... I can see tiny pieces of it twirling around.

Tank is a mess.... had to tear it down to catch fish for QT.

Bump the water level in the skimmer a tad. run wetter until this is over. How much turn over are you running through the sump?

Honestly though from first pic the the last the tank looks better... But I would pull the rock and cook it...

I have it right at the diagonal part. Are you saying to raise it up so that the foam is constantly going over the top of the neck hop? I was under the impression that it will go over if the water conditions are right.

I think you can safely bump it slowly and see. You should be getting double that or more in six days... Give it a small bump and then monitor it for a few days. Then bump it again;)

Ok Hop will do. Also what is the size of the tubing used for the pumps? I'd like to buy a sturdier tubing then what was given with the skimmer.

Ok great.

Hop... which colored arrow should my water line be at? In this picture it is at the red one... I thought that was the neck or am I wrong?

I NOW have it set near the black arrow... but it is not pictured here.

New updates.... after I took the pictures I removed all the rock from the right side of the tank for cooking. (looking from front). A video as well..
