Need help please (6045 very low flow)

Yesterday I received two 6045 and god, I'm sorry but those power heads are crap ! They’re beautiful and small but the flow they give is sooooo low. Also on one of them the flow is very low. Certainly the half of the other.

I will return return them for sure to my dealer but I want to get rid of my Seios (1100 and 1500) so I’m thinking of taking a 6060 or a 6080 to replace them.

Do you think a 6060 or a 6080 can do it alone in a 90G ?

Here’s a pic of my tank.

Please help me to make a decision cause I’m very disappointed of the Nanostreams.

Thanks

By the way sorry for my bad English, I’m a French Canadian.

Nobody can help me ? rvitko ? :(

I want a stream but the nanostreams disapointed me. Tonight I'll try to find what's the problem of the low flowrate.

I'm wondering, why is it no one's answering my post ? rvitko, would you please help me ? I'm a bit confused right now..

Thanks.

Jim,

Nice tank! The skull is a neat idea! :P

Just my opinion, but on your 90G tank you should grab a controllable stream. A 6000 (or maybe a 6100) and a single controller would work well for you. This way you could have pulsing flow which your fish and corals will love.

And on the other side of the tank you could attach your underperforming 6045's.

Good luck! :)

Roger has stated in the past that few of the 6045's in the first batch got the wrong motor in them for US electrical outlets... i think Roger is just changing them out... he offers excellent customer service... but i think he is off right now... he is usually online during the mornings EST...

Finally I'll return them and buy a 6060 (budget can't deal with 6100). I compared them with my friend's 6025 and the difference was small. He putted the 6025 in is 32G and WOW ! The flow was perfect.

I do not recommend these power heads for a tank over 50G.

They rate the 6045 for a tank up to 132G on their website.

I agree with you. They rate 'em for 1189gph, and I'm measuring 950GPH at best... So dissapointing. And I wanted to venture out on the 6055s. I was going to put 4 to 6 6055s blowing towards eachother at 1500GPH. Now, I don't trust their numbers... noway...

the 6055 arent even out yet. also the 6045's that most of you have are first runs for the US. everytime a new model comes out, there are some bugs that show up in the retail versions. this happens to every company, even car manufacturs. why do you think alot of warranty work occurs on these first runs? remember test often occurs in strict environments/situations. sometimes not evry situation can be accounted for in testing.

...and your point is...

I guess it's OK with you, if I am to spend $100 for a pump (nanostream6045) that claims 1189GPH and only get 925GPH as an average!!!

When I asked Tunze about the flow performance of the 6045, all they said was "the pump is operating properly".

skydancer, maybe you can start up a flow rate site like Sanjay's lighting site so we can see how accurate the flow ratings are for other pump manufacturers as well. I think you will find most are way off from what it says on the box.
