Thanks so much.....yeah I was more worried about the pressure on the bottom glass moreso than I was worried about actually being able to carry it.....but I cant imagine it would be too much.

Mike, Ill definitely take you up on that. Thanks.

Ive heard people say this about the pressure a few times. I don't understand- why would the pressure be any different just because the tank is being moved? I mean I get it if the tank is bouncing around thats one thing - but you don't want to do that glass tanks anyway...

Has anyone actually broken a tank by moving it with sand in it?

I think the reason is that when the tank is on the stand all the perimeter is supported therefore the weight is evenly distributed across the entire perimeter on the stand.

When you carry it the weight is only distributed across 4 points (where the ppl carrying it are holding it by) therefore a lot of the unsupported weight will be in the middle of the tank.

same reason you wouldnt build a stand with just four corners holding up the tank. Of course, were only talking a few seconds here to get it down from the stand and onto the dolly so I agree.....I cant imagine it would be that bad.

Hey all,

it looks like Ill be pushing the tank move back 1 week to next saturday. I really, really appreciate all the offers to help and will again keep you all posted as to the final details.

Thanks,
Jorge

Hey again,

So I am definitely going to be moving the 90 this Saturday. If you think you can help, please let me know.

Like I said, dont know that I have much to offer in the way of frags but eventually my stuff will grow in the new tank and you'll all get something....lol.

Pizza, beer, soda, chips, burgers, etc.......whatever. Thats all on the table.

If you can help, please reply here. Id like to get started at 10am. Also, please let me know what you can bring.

Here is what I need:
- As many 5 gallon buckets as possible - can never have too many
- A truck (to carry the tank)
- Large Rubbermaid container for LR
- ???????? Anything else you all can think of that I may be missing??????

I can bring my truck and a couple of the cheap rubbermaid containers, but as far as strength and manpower, I am a weakling. Let me know the address, I can be their by 10, let me know for sure.

Jorge!

Can't believe I didn't see this thread till now. I have a job interview today so depending on how that goes I may be able to help. If I can, I'll be more than willing to give you a hand. I've got either two or three 5 gallon buckets and an SUV that should be able to hold all the buckets and rubbermaids. Maybe even be able to hold the tank if need be. I also have my truck but the woman uses it that day. If I can get her to use my brothers car then we can use the truck no problem.

Let's do it!

yeah ill see if i can make it that day, i have a few 5 gallon gas tanks and a rubbermaid and all the man power anyone could ever ask for lol.

It's funny the dude with a cute cat is the manly strong one and the one with the mean *** dog is the weakling :)

Lol. That was awesome. That made my day even after doing half of my apt. Move today to the second floor w/ out an elevator and then going to play hockey.

Anyway, thanks Brett. And thanks serious cat. Seriously.

Alina, I think your truck will be a great help as well. I will know by some point tomorrow where the rank will be going. I'll keep you guys posted. As of now, whoever can help let's plan to meet right by Dadeland mall @ 10am. I'll pm all hellers an exact address.

Thanks again to all of you

Thanks again to all. The guy who may or may nit buy the tank did not get back to me today so I'm going to try Jim again tomorrow.

Either way, I was thinking and it doesn't really change the fact that I have to move the tank on Saturday regardless of where it ends up.

If it's not a problem for all those that offered to help, I was thinking of pushing the start time back an hour so that I have more time in the morning to get everything ready for the actual move. So it would be 11am.

I'm not sure how long this whole thing will take but I can only imagine it may be a full day. To not be such a burden on you guys, is there something I should do prior to all of you arriving?

make sure the beer is cold

LOL....yuengling light unless there are any objections?????? To me it is the best tasting light beer around and the most refreshing of any beer.

Now on to the actual helping part.....

My plan is to start bagging all the livestock up early in the morning. Ill take it all to my borthers house (where the tank is going) and float it in the pre-made SW containers to avoid any temp issues.

For those that are going to help, if you could meet me at my place at 11am that would be great. here is where we will:

a) begin drinking beer
b) start moving a fish tank

I figure well start taking the equipment/tank apart. then start draining the water, saving half. then well place all the LR in the tubs. Move the tank, stand and canopy, and then be done. Simple. haha.

Anyway, sorry for the late reply but I didnt have internet all day and my iphone ran out of battery so i couldnt post.

Thanks in advance to all of you. Check for PMs

Jorge, send me the damn address!

Also I suggest getting a bucket of some SW and swashing your LR around in it to get rid of all the detritus that you can.... I suppose I could have just made that suggestion tomorrow..

PM me the addy.
