Need Help! Purple Plating Sponge Dying!

Yeah I would not suggest using chemical cleaners as well. I would try the old fashioned way

The cyano could be from high phosphates

Yeah I haven't had a single trace of red slime cyano at all since first using the red slime remover on July 8th. Did plenty of water changes since then. I think i just need to wait it out and hope for the best. I will start feeding the corals and sponges Brightwell Aquatics UltraPlanktos-Z CWM & Brightwell Aquatics UltraPlanktos-P CWM as soon as it arrives. Got em both.

Updates as of this morning! Recovery is underway and I think the miracle food has brought this poor sponge back to life. Starting to get some of the original color slowly and steadily and even some new growth.

Glad to see. Mine is starting to grow into my Strawberry Short Cake acro so it will need to be trimmed soon. My last trimming went into the trash so do hit me up if yours does not recover.

If you trim it I shall take it. I'd put it in my daughters tank that has pretty much nothing in it at the moment.

Chemi-clean will kill this sponge, beause the photosynthetic symbiont is a strain of Cyanobacteria, not a Dinoflagellate.

If you have to use chemi-clean, always remove this sponge first, and only return it after the waterchange and activated carbon addition.
