Hi.
I have 2, 75 gal tanks stacked over a 50 gal refugium all filled with 15C saltwater.
I need some help figuring out the minimal needs of this tank and proper cycling to contain only blue mussels for long-term studies.
I would prefer to have no bed on the bottom and just leave the bare acrylic, if possible. Is it necessary to have live rock or can I just slowly add mussels to induce de-nitrification? I have the water dripping down over bioballs in the refugium.
Bottom line, do you think only a skimmer, filter, and bioballs in a bare acrylic tank can support mussels being fed "filter-feeder food"? If not, what would you suggest I do to set up this cold-water marine tank?
Your input is appreciated. I don't know if this is the best forum for my question.
