....Has struck one of my very favorite corals, my Platygyra! Anybody know the best treatment? I assume I have to dip the poor coral in something like Iodine? Anyone ever had this problem before? I'm NOT losing this coral!

Sincerely,
Matthew:rolleye1:

I dont have any personal expirence but I have read BJ spreads like butter on hot toast!!! It may hurt but Id trash the infected coral before it spreads to the rest of the tank...

I'd frag the healthy section off. Give yourself at least 1/4"-1/2" from the infected area. Once the jelly starts its hard to stop generally. You might at least be able to save some of it.

I'm looking at pics in Boremann & other books, & now I'm doubting my initial DX of Brown Jelly. That being said, it did have a hard time early on in my tank. My ocellaris clown kept knocking the poor thing off the LR 7 onto the sand, upside down. That happened a number of times. I thought the danger had passed, but maybe not. It may also be related to its paleness.
I am going to try and save it, whatever is causing this.

Well, if it is brown jelly and you happen to save it you'll be a minor hero in my book b/c I've probably lost 4-5 nice specimens of euphyllia to brown jelly. Tell us how you end up treating it.

I only have the two options now, both involve removing it from the tank (briefly). One, emergency surgery (amputation of diseased tissue & skeleton). The other dips in freshwater & maybe Lugol's solution.

Sincerely,
Matthew
