Today I woke up and I see some green egg looking things up at the highest rock in my tank. My 2 Onyx clowns appear to be guarding them so I am guessing that these have to be eggs. Just wondering if there is anyway that i would be able to raise these babies in my tank and how long till they hatch. will I need to removed them from the tank so my crabs and shrimp dont eat them? Any advice will help I really dont want them to die =(

The green color is odd. Should be orange at first, and then more gray as the eggs get closer to hatching.

As for raising the fry in the tank, that isn't going to happen. Would need to pull the eggs and put them in a separate rearing tank. Then would need to be able to fed them --- most likely would have to culture your own food for them.

If you are really interested in it, pick up Joyce Wilkerson book.

Here are some pictures of some of my eggs,

Pink skunk eggs, minutes old.

A picture would help, but I am starting to think that they aren't eggs, and could be bubble algae like "Slakker" said.

ill try and get a picture tonight my internet is not working so i came to my parents house to post about this. Should I worry about bubble algee

Ignore the fish -- on the rock is some ( okay a lot ) of bubble algae. If you only have a few, I wouldn't be too worried, but I wouldn't let it go either. It can/will get out of hand. Try to manually remove it, without breaking it, tweezers work pretty well.

As far as the well being of your livestock, probably not. I've never heard of it causing a real issue.

If you happen to pop one of the bubbles getting it out of your tank it has a tendency to spread pretty quickly. IME the green variety has pretty thick skin and isn't too hard to remove without bursting it if you're careful (it is SUPER fun to pop outside of the tank though...like little aquatic bubble wrap :D)
