I will introduce my self. My name is Fandy Sutanto from Jakarta, Indonesia (where the beautiful coral come from).
I have a LFS for 7 year since 2000.
I'm welcome all the hobbiest club, organitation, foundation to join this forum.
I have an idea to make a place or something like museum to collect all the coral, fish and creature in the land/aquarium.
All the coral will collect around the world, but from the frag coral aor breeding fish and we must accept the ruler like CITES.
This place have many purpose like education, exhibition, conservation, to learn how to frag like bank of coral.
We must research to save the coral, this place can be a donor to all the world.
There are another thing that I can't wrote but the point is I need a way how to realize this to become true.
I need maybe a foundation, fund, donor or organitation about financial or a way to where I must go/step to make this happen.
I'm sorry about my english, I'm not good to explain in english.
I need all advice from around the world including in my country.
If very personal, can be e-mail me at tjoafanthien@yahoo.com.

Very Good idea.
I for one can't help you, But i'm sure Others can help point you in the right direction.
Maybe start Coral Propagating and use the profits ?

Goodluck !

Thank's mrme. I need all help from around the world. I will accept all the concept. Maybe you are right, start from frag and we sell to place and make profit to it.

I'm not certain of the government in Jakarta, but some governments have been very open to conservation of natural features if it seems viable for productive ecotourism, including protective status of areas involved in such projects. I would probably start there to see if that could possible (to preserve a section of the reef as it's own museum, particularly if it is a shallow reef that can be easily viewed by snorkeling) and get any legal status for your organization in order before asking people for donations.

These days are kind of scary about the internet, what with all those people who win the "Nigerian National Lottery" or who discover that their cousin, the Nigerian king, has died and left them a fortune. There are all kinds of people running all kinds of scams online, so it really helps not-for-profit ventures to have a tax or otherwise legal status to prove their legitimacy, especially when asking for donations online.
