I wanted to know what you all feed. I have a new pair that i've had for about two weeks and all I can get them to eat is cyclopeeze. I've tried brine, live brine, mysis, flake, ora glow, spectrum pellets, and dainichi pellets. They only touch the cyclopeeze. I can't feed enough in a day to keep them fat. they are skinny, but they aren't fat either. What should I do?

rods food?.....what helped when i got my yasha goby is not let them eat for a day and then when the food finally comes it just has to eat.

keep up with the cyclopeze get some rods food.

my small clowns loved live baby brine shrimp if you have the patience to grow them you can set up the culture today and have live food tomorrow.

What's in Rods food that would help them eat? I will get some, but I don't think anyone in my area carries it.

BRK has some Rod's Food Chris. I can bring you some on Saturday if you are not in the area before then.

fwiw: IME, ORAs have been big time eaters of the prepared foods over our traditional reef offerings. May take a few offerings and some time to "recognize" the diet.

Do you have other fish in the tank with them? Anything they can see in feeding form?

I would try smaller feedings with great variety, feed from the output of the returns/powerheads., and see if that triggers the feeding response.

fwiw: many of my clowns are extremely picky on brands of food, so I tend use PE mysis(large and small sizes), SF Brine, frozen cyclopeze, and from there a mix of just about every food you can imagine :D

I would also try to hatch some live baby brine.

Try mixing some frozen brine shavings into the cyclopeeze, try to get it around the size of the cyclopeeze to see if you can trick the clowns into trying the new food, then gradually cut bigger pieces of the food for them.

You could also try adding cyclopeeze flake into the mix, getting them to eat flake that taist the same might be easy.

I also second the rods food, but make the particals the same size as the cyclopeeze to start with.

This is what I had to do with my baby picasso's to get them to eat anything. They started only eating live baby brine & testing other foods. Now they are both garbage cans 2 weeks later. Also several feedings a day will help with the weight too.

One actually ripped the pippette out of my hand this morning while feeding.

i would try cyclopeeze waffers. it is freeze-dried cyclopeeze pounded into flake, you can find it online. really good stuff...EXTREMELY high in astaxanthene (which makes/keeps your clowns deep orange)

This is from a few days ago. I am not feeding them tonight. I'm trying to build up their appetite. I'm gonna go get some Rod's and see how that goes.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

I'll second the recommendation for Hikari Marine-S. My picassos still prefer this to anything else I've offered them (rod's food, pe mysis, ora glo, formula one, etc.).

I have one, and he eats everything! Mysis, loves Rod's food, fresh hatched baby brine shrimp, pellets anything really.

Are they in that little catch cup alone with nothing to hide in? give them a rock or PVC elbow ... they might feel more comfortable to try new foods.
