Is there any thing I should know when wireing my MH retro kit.
I have an IceCap ballast.

I am trying to decide how to mount my MH retro kit. I have a 100 gal with this canopy. I will have 2 250MH mounted in this canopy. If I mount it like in the first pic I am afraid of having a bad shadow in the middle but I can mount another light in the middle something like a 175 MH or some type of PC or T5. In the second pic I dont think I will have room to mount another light in the middle.

Should I mount it like the first pic or the second?

I would take a measurement of the entire tank. Divide that by 2, and then center each reflector in regards to your measurement. This way the bulbs are equally distanced from each other and the sides of the canopy.

Since your brace is glass, I wouldn't worry about a shadow. I did the above method on my 90 which had a plastic brace, and I did not have any shadowing effect.

also, if you mount them as show in your pictures your spread will be more front to back, with only 2 bulbs i would mount them perpendicular to the tank so the spread goes more left to right.

Go with the second so you don't end up with bright lighting in the corners and a dark spot in the center. My tank is a 60" long 100G and I have two 250w MH with 24" PFO parallel reflectors. I have a 4" gap on each end and a 4" gap in the center so lighting is pretty even.
You don't give any dimensions but your situation is about the same.
