Purchased 2 clown fish today. They both were fine for a few hours and than noticed they both were trying to gasp for sir for a while. I took them out and put them into my other tank and now one of them is swimming around with no problem but the other is still on its side looking like it's breathing hard. What can I do??

This fish's stress level is bringing up mine also

What can I do!!

Fish are 4 hours old.

Tank pH was 8.4
Salt is 1.023
Nitrate 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Temp 80

Did a water change for safe keeping, was still laying on its side on the sand

Both tanks. How big are they?

How did you acclimate?
The tank they are in now is a 65 corner tank and the tank I originally put them into is a 10 gallon tank

Had a little hang on side container, dropped little bit of water, total amount of time was 30 mins

1 seems fine, swimming around and nudging the other one while it's laying down on the sand

soooo we kinda need more information to help you..
what size tank is this and how long has it been running and/or cycled?
what do you have to oxygenate the water?
what else is in the tank?
what was your acclimation procedure???

10 gallon Tank is cycled, been running for months
And the 65 corner has been running for 8 months total

10 gallon tank has nothing in it but a little goby

65 corner has roughly 8 fish, yellow tang, 2 other clown and some other starter fish

Nothing currently to oxygenate the tanks, either one

This is them right now

One swimming, other on sand

Got a filter in both tanks, a powehead in the 65, no skimmer in the 10 gallon but one in the 65 and a return pump in both
then oxygenation shouldnt be an issue in the 65. but if they started that in the 10 gallon then they may still be recovering from low oxygen levels in the 10 since you didnt have anything in there.

EDIT: i see you said there is a filter in the 10. what kind of filter?

Best I can do it wait it out than? Have them both in the 65 right now

Did a 15% water change and doing another 5-10% tomorrow in the 10 gallon

Should I add anything to the tank?

It's the aqueon evolve 8

The Evolve kits are made using fired acrylic construction giving the aquarium a beautiful, seamless design. Featuring integrated QuietFlow Power Filter, Wet/Dry biological filtration, LED adjustable lighting with both daylight and moonlight

What is being asked is: is there anything that makes the water's surface ripple (like a powerhead pointing to the surface) or a hob filter that pours the water back into the tank (like an aquaclear), or a bubble stone?

Detailed description of how you acclimated the fish to the first tank you put them in, please.

Even a bubbler would help...it's smart to keep a battery powered one in the house anyways, incase of a power outage. I would buy that, or a cheap power head to ripple the surface if you are on a budget.

PS - get that yellow tang out of there lol

What's wrong with the yellow tang? He's in my corner tank with 2 other clowns, shrimps, etc

Yes I have a powerhead, right now a rio 800 I think is hooked up. Changed out the old small original one and upgraded it

No bubble stones in the tank

Im not trying to be the tang police over here, but that tank is way too small for a yellow. He needs alot of "running" room and pending how long he has been in there, he wont do well much longer. Generally speaking, I wouldn't put one in under a 4 foot long tank. Its unfortunate that so many of the cool fish have to be kept in larger tanks...but try to look some of this stuff up before you make purchases.
