Need help with Hammerhead Pump

OK. I have tried every step in Reeflo's instructions. I need to replace the seal. But the impellar will not budge. Again I tried strap wrench, tapping on rim, torquing with screwdriver.

Is this yet another busted crappy reeflo pump?

Any tricks?

Have you considered a gear puller? You'd need something stiff behind the impeller to pull it uot without damage; I have the same issue with the impeller of a Dart that I need to pull for spare parts.

Have you been able to get the key off the shaft? You can use some side cutters to get a grip on the key and use the impeller as a fulcrum point.

On some bigger pumps I have dropped a deepwell socket on the shaft(smaller than the ID of the impeller) then use a couple of c clamps and 2 peices of wood or metal(on both sides of the impeller). Then use the clamps to tighten and press the impeller off of the shaft. You might want to spray some Kreoil on there to lube it up.

Key?

Removed the fan, used a vice grip and strap wrench. But the impeller was busted. Ceramic on the seal had literally melted. Reeflo uses cheap bad seals. I'm going with silicon carbide.

Now forgive me it's been a while since I took mine apart.
Usually on the shaft of the motor there is a 1/8 or 1/4" slot that is machined on the shaft. Then the key stock will slide into the the slot and impeller to prevent it from spinning on the shaft.
