Is this a chalice. I have it at the bottom in the shade because I pulled it out of a tank that was only running PC. It is a dark purple with green mouths
I've been nursing this back from live rock rubble...
"Chalice" refers to a few different types of coral, though it does appear to be one of the 'chalice-types'. Echinophyllia, Echinopora, Oxypora, Mycedium.. all considered Chalice in the hobby. As to exactly which one of those yours is... mmm, dunno.
I'd second the lord ID on the second one. Polyp size comes into play when separating lords from micro amak's. I think they were classified as the same species until somewhat recently.
eh, no good way to tell for sure without bleaching a part of the skeleton and viewing under a microscope. You can check out Veron's "Corls of the World"- it gives a pretty good overview of those different groups, including microscopic views of the skeletal structure.
