Need Help With Large Anemone Extraction

I have a GBTA which has grown very large and is starting to oversting several corals. I would like to move it to another tank but cannot figure out how to remove it from the rockwork to which it is attached. The rockwork is layers deep and the anemones foot is not accessable and dismantling the rockwork is really out of the question.

Is there any way to stimulate him into wanting to move?

Any tips greatly appreciated. Uh... no nuclear options like Joe's juice please.

You could try blocking the light from him with a piece of cardboard or wood. If he doesnt get enough light he should want to move. Its worked before for me. Ive also heard of someone facing a powerhead directly at one to get it to move.

Good suggestions RandomHero1. How long do you think it would take if I deprived him of light? Problem is hes so big, I'd need to shade half the tank and corals would suffer if it took an extended time. As for powerheads the system has none(system uses two large CSDs for current generation) and hes gettin about as much flow as I can give him. I might be able to borrow a PH and dedicate it to just blasting him: again how long do you think it might take?

Thanks

If you make life uncomfortable for him he should move fairly quickly.

Shade and the powerhead together should get him on the move. I would say try to point the PH right at its foot.

I don't think it would take long at all. I'd personally try cutting off the main lights and put a light on one side of the tank (even using a household lamp or something). My guess is within 24 - 36 hours the anemone would move. And that length of time of relative darkness wouldn't hurt your corals.
