I purchased them on Thursday evening, the polyps were all open at the LFS I purchased a brain coral at the same time. Both corals were acclimated and put in a 10 gal QT. The next day some of the polyps opened I shot this picture.

On Saturday all polyps opened and it looked good, on Sunday most polyps opened. Today I didnt see any polyps open.

Could it be chemical competion? My lighting on the QT is one 65 watt 6500k LOA outdoor PC fixture. Temp has been steady at 82F. So far I havent chenged any water. There is one maxi jet 1200 for circulation.
I'm going to do a 50% water change now.

Thank you, now two days without polyp extension. There is one polyp on the rock which is open. It was open yesterday and was open again today, it does not have the pink center. With a magnifying glass I can make out what appears to be isopods, the friendly ones you commonly find. Otherwise I havent noticed any predators. I changed 50% water last night.

for reference the date they were purchased was 6-8

you might want to throw another powerhead on that, preferably a 600 or two, a 1200 is pretty strong for a 10 gl. and 82 is a bit on the warmer side, but not likely a cause of your problems

The frag is fairly small, less than an 1 1/2 in diameter and isnt being blown around. So it seems reasonable at least to me. I keep my display at 80-82 Isnt this close to natural reef temps?
