Need help with Solorensis Wrasse

I would say it is unusual but not unheard of for ich to show up 5 weeks later. My reasoning is if the ich was in the gills then it may have reproduced enough for a large infection.

From your previous posts it does not seem like the wrasse was exhibiting any obvious symptoms.

It is still tough to tell from the pic. If it is air bubbles I would think they would dissipate over fairly quick. If it is ich the should disappear within 2-3 days. I would try to keep an eye out on certain spots and see if they go away.

All of the bubbles are gone. He's completely clear now. I still think I'm going to do TTM just to be certain.
Any tips for a smooth ride with TTM?

Good to hear!!!

I would suggest to be as organized as possible and to stick to a routine, for ex: cleaning up the tank and equipment right after the transfer. I also keep a 5g bucket marked "QT Stuff" so I don't mix it up with regular Stuff.

I have found a colander is great for the actual transfer. Make sure you got plenty of water on hand and ready for the transfers and something like seachem prime on hand, just in case. A blow dryer can help speed up the drying process.

Do you use tanks? Or buckets? I think I'm going to use two 5 gallon buckets. I have prime on hand, and how often would you recommend I feed during it? Just want it to go as smoothly as possible as I quite like the little guy.

I use a couple 10g tanks. I usually feed pretty light. I like to use pellets during TTM. I can control how much I feed better than flakes, at least that is what I tell myself.

Make sure you can cover the top of the buckets with something so the guy does not take a jump. I have used the screen netting with a bungee cord around the bucket before when temporarily holding fishes.

I will. I'll only be filling the buckets about 3/4 full too. What do you use to aerate??? I have my hob filter, but I'll need to dry that out.
I also feel like I should put in a PVC pipe that is there in the tank right now. How would you carry that out? Just dry the pipe quickly as possible?

He also didn't take pellets the first time I fed them, and I haven't really tried them since. I've just been feeding hikari and pe mysis. I'll try to keep feeding light as possible.

For aeration I use an air stone. I usually toss the stone and the tubing when done, they are pretty cheap. I would pick up a couple PVC fittings to toss in for each bucket. That way you don't need to worry about cross contamination. Once they have been dried out for 24 hours you could reuse them.

A picky eater. You have had him for awhile now so you probably got a pretty good handle on how much he eats. He will only be in each container for 72 hours so unless you have an accident with feeding it should not be a problem.

My mom won't let me do TTM.
Copper is my only choice now unfortunately.. Have you had experience with a solorensis wrasse before? Or have you treated a Cirr. Sp. with Copper?

Why won't she let you do TTM? It's probably the best method for treating ich. Much safer on the fish, some fish don't do well with copper either and I'm pretty sure wrasses are one of them. May want to check into that. Maybe search here or on Google

She thinks it's too much of a mess. I'm not sure. I'll try to convince her some more.

It has been ages since I used copper. I would have to read up on it to just verify the procedure. If going the copper route I would use caution, I believe wrasses to be sensitive to it.

Do you have a basement or a room that does not get used much. TTM if kept organized does not take up to much area and does not need to be messy. Hopefully mom will agree to it.

She agreed to it, kind of. Thrower had a great suggestion in my thread on the disease forum, so I'll probably do that. I'll keep updating this thread too. Crossing my fingers he makes it, although he's still been acting very normal, and ate out of my hand again today.

He's dead. I woke up this morning, and he's freaking dead.
Not sure what killed him.
I'm really starting to think about quitting the hobby. I've killed two fish, and had to return another.
Thanks for everyone who contributed in this thread.
RIP buddy.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss buddy. Why don't you take a break from adding anything for a while and just enjoy your tank as it is. Then next year decide on a new fish to add and do it. There will be others that don't make it, and it wasn't anything that you did that killed either of your fish. It happens.

God Bless and have a Very Merry Christmas and keep good thoughts about the time you have had both of them. Start off the new year with something new!

AAWWW man I am really sorry to read this. I really don't think it was anything that you did. I know it is frustrating, just give it some time as Dkuhlmann said.

I have had my fair share of fish that did not make it. If you want to talk about it and see if we can figure anything feel free to shoot me a pm or post here if you would like. Hang in there.

Forgot to mention I still do not think it was ich, it usually does not kill that fast.

Thanks Dave. Means a lot. I'll probably wait till the end of Jan to even start thinking about a new fish. I loved the little guy.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Yeah.. I had a thread in the disease forum as well, Steve thought it could be velvet. I need to check with the source if copper was run in the tank.
I am pretty frustrated, but I'll talk to you soon!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Tony! Thanks for all of your help!
